TANGO MEETS JAZZ TOUR 2025

XVI EDITION | 2025

As part of the 2025 ARTango&Jazz Festival - XVI Edition, directed by the Anton Stadler Association ETS, the musicians Federico Mondelci, sax; Fabio Furia, bandoneon; Giacomo Riggi, vibraphone and Marco Schirru, piano; performed together with the Anton Stadler String Quintet.

The musicians performed in Tango meets Jazz, a program inspired by the two albums that Astor Pizzolla released in 1974, Summit and in 1986 The New Tango with saxophonist Gerry Mulligan and vibraphonist Gary Burton respectively. The scores of the original songs from the album The New Tango, largely composed specifically for Gary Burton, have been lost and to date nothing has yet been released. The same fate for the scores of the album that was born from an idea of Aldo Pagani, the Italian agent and publisher who had the intuition to put together Gary Mulligan and Astor Piazzolla. The result was a masterpiece: Summit has now entered history.

Tango meets Jazz is a unique concert, blending tango and jazz in a rare and exciting combination. A tribute to the great composer Astor Piazzolla and two great soloists, Gary Burton and Gerry Mulligan. It is a tribute that goes beyond the classic compositions of the Argentine Maestro, which aims to rediscover some masterpieces that have remained in the shadows or little known that are just waiting to shine again on a stage and conquer other audiences.

The Concert was held in three special events:

- on 28th of August, at the Nuraghe Seruci in Gonnesa;

- on 29th of August, at Villa Siotto in Sarroch;

- on 30th of August, at Piazza Europa in Narcao.
